Loaded up and ready to go. Barges are an ancient form of transportation. These look like they are loaded up with gravel. There is a barge about a mile up river that is filled with rusty metal.

The birds of the North shore are fun to photograph and just an excuse to take pictures of the lake and the rocks. I think I took this one in 2012 and am looking forward to taking more in 2015.
I took this a couple of years ago and yes I will get back to the regular program of taking NEW photos. Today I really needed a sunrise.
This was taken last weekend near Duluth Minnesota. I am hoping for some more sunny days before the leaves fall from the trees so that I can get some more colorful photos.
In a few weeks the river will be free of ice and the shipping season will begin. I took this photo late last summer from Harriet Island looking across the river toward downtown.
