This is the most beautiful station serving both the blue and green line in Minneapolis. On the south side of the tracks are the modern buildings and on the north side the historic buildings.
The trains do not come to St. Paul yet, we just have all the construction. I got this shot and several others up on the platform at the Hiawatha station. I think the trains are pretty. 🙂
It looks more like destruction. There used to be a building on the corner. I can see progress on the light rail construction downtown. I have been photographing the construction as it progresses and hope to do some trespassing over the holiday weekend so that I can get some better shots.
You could live ion St. Paul your entire life and not know where this street id. It runs between Kellogg blvd. and Shepard Road it is more of an alley than a road but it is listed as a street. I am trying to get some pictures of the light rail station as it is being built. I finally found a place where I can take pictures from but I will have to walk in to get them.
The old Union Depot in downtown St. Paul will be a train deport again. The building is on the National Register of Historic places. The building is still in use but not as a train station. It will be the hub of the new light rail system.
Boston had the big dig we have the new light rail line. Downtown is torn up. I have been taking photos now and then. It is a four year project and I want to document it in some way and wish that I had pictures of this street before they started digging it up and can not wait to photograph the trains on 4th in a few years.
