My Neighbor

A neighbor and I happened to be carrying my camera.  Who could resist?  It isn’t every day you see a little girl in a purple dress sitting by a tree coloring.

butterfly weed

I have never before seen butterfly weed in any color but bright orange.  I found this along the St. Croix River North of Stillwater MN.  I have to say it is just as lovely in lavender as it is in orange.

Flowers reflected

I have not gotten to go any place exciting this summer but there are places to go that are close by and I guess that helps.  These are at Como Park where there is always something in bloom even in the winter.

Monarch Butterfly

I decided that this is the perfect photograph to kick off the month of August.  The purple cone flower is a favorite of the monarch butterfly and they are starting to bloom.

Bumble Bee

The prairie clover is a native species and they are just starting to bloom.   I found patches of them along the bike paths on the North side of the Mississippi River west of downtown.

Lilacs

It is a shame that the Lilacs only last about a week.  They are fading fast but they still smell amazing.

Crocus

These are the prettiest crocus because they grow in my yard.  I have two types, early bloomers and late bloomers.  These are the late bloomers.

Foxglove

These are so pretty.  So do I need to say anything more about them?

Purple Primula

I don’t think I have ever seen these flowers before. They were at the only place around St. Paul where there are flowers growing this time of year and that is the Marjorie Mcneely conservatory at Como park.  I thought it would be fun this week to mix it up and post pictures of flowers and of snow storms.
