The winter machine

Beautiful sculpture and this years first place winner.  My guess is with the warm up yesterday it doesn’t look the same today.

Park

Twin Cities Parks are rarely empty even in the winter.  I used an app called “snapseed” to process this shot which I took with my handy dandy panasonic point and shoot type camera.   I love the old oak trees in the parks and yes I know I have said that before.  This is the last day of January and we have not had much winter this year.  There are a few inches of snow on the ground.  I think this is mother natures way of apologizing for the abuse she heaped upon us last year.

There wasn’t anyone in the park when I stopped by but the bench and the tree are there waiting for spring.

Mississippi River Blvd

The oak trees are lovely this time of year.   This is another photo that I took with a camera and edited on my with an iPad.

Scotch Pine

In 2012 I am going to take more pictures of trees.  This ancient tree is on the shore of lake Como in St. Paul and it is one of the designated landmark trees.  I am not the only one who takes trees seriously.

Ghosts

I took this last year in Rice Park during the evening rush hour.   People were moving around and so were the ghosts, or at least they look like ghosts when the shutter speed is slow and they are walking fast.  Do you see anyone you recognize in this photo?   Merry Christmas to all.

I photograph the sunken garden every year.  The flowers change with the seasons and I always enjoy it.  I like to think my photographs of it have improved over the years.  There are millions of photographs like this.  There are a few photographers in this photo too.

Jack and Daisy

Docks

Such lovely fall weather.  I like to walk along the river and sometimes I walk on the docks.  I like to watch people and have been known to sit on the benches and look at the river.   The trees are yellow now and so is the grass.  In a couple months I won’t be able to take this walk with out freezing my a$$ off.
