My newest Lily

I have enjoyed gardening my entire life. In recent years the demands of my business have made it hard to start the garden because spring is my busy time.  This year went a little better than usual because there was a longer spring.  I grow a lot of lilies because they are low maintenance and easy to grow and they spread but not so fast that they get out of control.

My lily habit started shortly after we moved into our home when a neighbor gave me five red lilys.  Then my mother gave me some and over the years my collection grew and I have given them away to neighbors and friends.  I never had one like this before and it is the first one that I ever bought.  I remember thinking at the time that I don’t need another lily. It just opened up a couple of days ago and is growing in between my yellow lilies and the red ones and I was wrong about not needing it.

Simply Orange

This one was for my Sunshine Sunday group on Flickr.  Submissions for the group are supposed to be mostly orange, yellow or red and can only be posted on Sundays.  I am challenging myself to find subjects that meet the criteria but that are not flowers.  This is an ancient house on West 7th Street in St. Paul the a neighbor of mine who is an architect converted into an office.  I have not decided if I like the paint job or not.   I like it when people find new uses for historic homes. This one is very small and it makes a better office than home.

Not Poppies

The orange tulips are so pretty that I couldn’t take just one picture and for some reason most of the photos I took yesterday turned out.  It doesn’t usually work that way but the lighting was perfect and it all just kind of worked out.  This is the last day of March and this year March came in like a lamb and went out like a lamb.  Soon I will have tulips of my own.

The Tulips are blooming at Como Park Conservatory.  I don’t think I have ever seen such a beautiful flower show.  The colors are so vibrant with oranges, whites, yellows, violets and purple.

I was out taking photos during our  first major snow storm of the season.  I think that was a week ago or more. I never noticed this before and saw it as I was driving down Western near Selby.  The back door to the Paper Patisserie.   It lis a different world at the back door.

Lights on the Tree

I took this one last year just for fun and I think photography is supposed to be fun.  It really doesn’t look much like a Christmas tree but it does have some nice colors in it.  I went out on Sunday and got a bunch of holiday shots, I hope to have time to process them and plan on getting some more this afternoon.

Orange cosmos

My computer is a disorganized mess, kind of like my sock drawer . . more than you wanted to know.  I took it last August in a local park. It was a nice find now that the flowers have all died.   Slightly blurry but very orange.
