Mel's drive in

There are a few Mel’s around the country.  This one is in San Francisco.  It is part of my nostalgia collection of photos.  I took this a couple of years ago and I did not have a tripod with me at the time but I did have my trusty 55mm 1.8 lens.

McDonald's at the Mall of America

Yesterday I had breakfast at the McDonald’s at the Mall of America.  I don’t like to shop but I love going to the mall in the winter because I can walk for miles and it is warm, colorful and well lit.  This McDonald’s overlooks the mall’s amusement park.  If you have not seen it you should go.

A no Horse Sleigh

Sitting on the sidewalk at west 7th and Chestnut in front of Wescott Station.  It is either supposed to be a holiday decoration or maybe it is for a small child with a large dog.

Grand Avenue

My favorite kind of photography but I don’t have time to do much of it. When I am out at night on the street it is like I am invisible and my camera captures all kinds of things.  This shot was taken on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, MN

Not In Service

I keep my camera handy when I travel even at the airport.  This photo was taken in a BART station on the way to the SFO air train.  I think they lined all of those orange cones up just for my camera.

mickey's dining car

I have oh so many photos of this.  it is a local landmark . . is that a good enough excuse?  Colorful, looks good day and night. Mickey’s dining car, St. Paul, MN . . the food is good too.  Maybe I’ll just build a gallery with nothing but photos of Mickey’s.

Park Square Theater

This is one of those shots that just kind of happened when I was out shooting something else.  It sat on my camera card unoticed for a couple of weeks. Taken on 7th plaza in downtown St. Paul. I wonder who the woman is who is hiding behind the planter? When I process my photos I am often surprised at what I see.  It was the lights and the shadows that made me want to photograph this and I didn’t notice anything else.

Friends

This photos is colorful, but I like it because it reminds me of a wonderful night in Las vegas spent with two of my favorite people to shoot with. We took a bus ride downtown and wandered for a few hours before we stopped for a bite to eat. In this photo my friends were discussing various food options. Me I’ll eat anything.

Tourists

Sometimes shots with people in them, even people we don’t know are fun too.

Kristal

This photo is about the expression on Kristal’s face. I have gotten this look from her when I am pulling her leg.  It is her “I don’t beleive a word you are saying look”.  To the right our friend Dave is either taking a photo of me taking a photo, or he is also taking a picture of Kristal. He won’t say.

Mel's at MGM Studios in Orlando FL

The top two photos were taken in July of 2008 in San Francisco California and the photo on the bottom was taken at MGM studios in Orlando Florida in November of 2008.  I am sure there are amy more Mels. I hope I have the opporuntiy to shoot them all. Have camera will travel.
