I haven’t seen as many monarchs this year but the Zinnias are doing just fine. They were a favorite of my grandfather’s and I understand why. They are easy to grow and come in bright colors and they attract butterflies.
From a distance it looked like there were pieces of paper caught in the flowers but it was the weight of the butterflies that made the stems bend. A beautiful sight.
I am not sure what the creature was doing in the grass but decided to photograph it instead of asking questions. I grow flowers that attract the monarch butterfly but they rarely let me photograph them and I did not see very many this year.
