Another photo from the gorgeous sunrise on thanksgiving. I zoomed out a bit. The water is so low because of the drought. It was such a beautiful morning. This was taken from the Smith avenue high bridge looking toward downtown.
On my way to find some photos that a client requested I found some photos that I never processed. This one is of the Clyde Butcher a tow boat in front of the Comcast Building on the Mississippi River right across from downtown St. Paul. It was taken in May of 2011 and I like the clouds and the lighting which is probably why I took the picture.
The river is rarely quiet and when it is I like to photograph it and the blue hour is one of the best times of the day to do that. I have taken this picture many times and I suspect I’ll take it again one day.
One of my favorite evening bike rides takes me over the Wabasha street bridge which is up hill all the way and so I don’t mind stopping to look at the river. The St. Paul rowing club is on Raspberry island just under the bridge. From the bridge they all look like giant insects on the river.
This was taken in Little Falls Minnesota at the hydro electric plant. I love the roar of the falls and the smooth water above them. The Mississippi River is amazing in it’s diversity.
The Mississippi River looks different down here in St. Paul than it does up where it begins at Lake Itasca. Â Itasca state park is on of the most beautiful state parks I have ever seen. Well worth a visit.
