Merry Christmas

I wrote all of my posts for this blog last Sunday.  Like most people I know I get busy the week before Christmas and I didn’t want to forget to wish you all a Merry Christmas and to thank you for looking at my photo blog.   Your comments keep me going.  It wouldn’t be as much fun to take pictures if I didn’t have anyone to share them with.  Have a Merry Christmas.

Let it snow . . I can have that kind of an attitude until about one day after Christmas and then I am looking forward to spring in a big way.

A no Horse Sleigh

Sitting on the sidewalk at west 7th and Chestnut in front of Wescott Station.  It is either supposed to be a holiday decoration or maybe it is for a small child with a large dog.

They are not real but they do brighten things up a bit.

Oh look a tree

People love the tree in the IDS center in downtown Minneapolis. Some take family portraits in front of it to be used as holiday greeting cards. Other stare at it from the skyway . . and it gets it’s photo taken often.

On the phone

He was with a group of people but they all moved on.  This was taken at gaviidae commons in Minneapolis.  A fun place to shop for some, and for others a great place to talk on the phone, and for me a place to take photos or people shopping or talking on the phone.  I did find some people taking photos too.

Kellogg Park Holiday Lights

This is one of those shots I got on my way to take photos of something else.  The sun was just coming up and I saw it from my car. I pulled over and started shooting.  The park looks very different in the winter at dawn with the lights on the arbor.  Here is a photo I took of the same park last summer.

Mears Park Reindeer

The decorations don’t look all that great during the day but they do at night. Mears Park is in the heart of the lower town neighborhood in St. Paul and yes I take many pictures of it.  It is one of my favorite places to go in the summer because of all the flowers. They are gone now but we have reindeer instead.

Lights on the Tree

I took this one last year just for fun and I think photography is supposed to be fun.  It really doesn’t look much like a Christmas tree but it does have some nice colors in it.  I went out on Sunday and got a bunch of holiday shots, I hope to have time to process them and plan on getting some more this afternoon.

Holiday Lights in Rice Park

The city does a wonderful job of decorating the downtown parks. Now I need to figure out how to take some wonderful pictures of them.  A little snow will help but most years it gets so cold it is hard to get photos. This year is warmer so maybe I will get some.  I tend to take my night shots at lower shutter speeds so if there is even a slight breeze they don’t turn out very well.
