A lot of work has been done to restore the dome in the State capitol building. It used to have chipped paint and plaster. Today it is absolutely gorgeous with vibrant paint and shiny gold. The Minnesota state Capitol building was designed by Cass Gilbert.
The state capitol building just went through some sprucing up. It looks spectacular inside and out. This is the kind of picture people like to steal for web sites and newsletters.
Someone asked for this photo so I had to get it out and dust it off. The building is located on the corner of Selby and Western in St. Paul, bring your camera.
I often wonder if the buildings that were built in 1985 will still be standing in 2116. I have seen photos of this taken in the 1900’s when the building was still black and white. The building once houses a carriage dealership.
Kind of hidden and wedged in between newer buildings this is the oldest surviving commercial building in St. Paul and the first fire station. I have seen pictures of it from the 1880’s and back then it was black and white and the fire department used horses. Is someone seeking a demolition permit to tear this down?
Such a lovely old piece of art deco hardware. On West 7th street on one of the Schmidt brewery buildings.
