Scotch Pine

In 2012 I am going to take more pictures of trees.  This ancient tree is on the shore of lake Como in St. Paul and it is one of the designated landmark trees.  I am not the only one who takes trees seriously.

Reflection

Reflections are fun to photograph.  The water was so still when I took this one that it is hard to tell where the trees end and the water begins.  A shame I wasn’t there at sunset.

I love the smell I just wish I could photograph it.

Lillydale park

According to the Minnesota DNR this fall is going to be more colorful than usual because of the heat and the rain we had during the summer.  They said that last year too and last year was amazing.  These are the woods along the Mississippi River in Lilydale park.  This area is one of my top picks for places close to home where I can photograph fall colors the year.

Part of the reason that I am slow when I bike is because I stop for photo opportunities.

Weeds

I think these are weeds but they are pretty weeds.  I see all sorts of things when I am out on my bike and am probably the only one on the trails who slows down to look or take a photo.

North Shore Lake Superior - Two Harbors, MN

I have not been to Lake Superior yet this year but I will go.   The picture was taken last year and is in one of my favorite places on the lake.   It is a park in Two Harbors MN where the light house is.

Park Bench Harriet Island

I am the mayor of Harriet Island on Foursquare.  I often ride my bike through the park and sometimes I take my dog down to the park for a walk.  One of the many reasons I like going there are the giant ancient cotton wood trees and the noise they make when there is a breeze.  It sounds like a waterfall.

prairie clover

The prairie clover is a native species and they are just starting to bloom.   I found patches of them along the bike paths on the North side of the Mississippi River west of downtown.
