Church

 of the Assumption 

This church is located on 7th street in downtown St. Paul.  It is over 150 years old.  A catholic church built by German immigrants.   Architectural photography is still my favorite and I spent a few hours at this church.  I think I could have made a day of it there is so much to take in.

Saint Louis King of France Church

The weather has been amazing and I took a little time off on Sunday for a photo walk.  This is the corner of 10th street E. and Cedar street in downtown St. Paul.  You can stand on the corner and see an interesting combination of old buildings and new ones.  They look like they belong together.

The cathedral

An unimaginative title and not the first picture I have taken of this building.  I was driving home and liked the clouds and the light.   I used to live across just down the street from this building and I could see it out the window but that was a long time ago.

Landmark Center

The weather was so amazing last Thursday that I decided work would be impossible. In the afternoon I walked downtown, ate a box of popcorn and hung out in Rice park.  The work was still there when I got back to my office.  No regrets

St. Casmier

So many church steeples. I have not taken photos of this old church before mostly because I don’t often get to that part of town.  When I was in grade school I had a friend who lived right by this church.  I remember playing in the parking lot. The church is in the Romanesque style and was built in 1903.

Assumption Church

Yet another shot taken out the car window.  The church is big and it is huge but I like the steeples the best.  it is one of our many lovely historic churches.

Steeples and Trees

Steeples and trees – there are plenty of both in St. Paul they look good together especially in the spring and fall.

Waiting at the 6th street transit station

There are so many things I could write about this picture.  I woke up early yesterday and decided to make the most of it so I was out the door by 6:00 AM with my camera.  Rush hour was a mess because of the snow but I found what I was looking for.  Something colorful to shoot.  I have taken a few pictures of the 6th Street transit station.  It is very photogenic because of the color, the non-stop activity and the cathedral in the background if at all possible.

Old Oak

There is a face up on the tower under the branches of the oak tree and this is my last post for 2009. Happy New Year.

Autumn Chapel

Fall leaves and brick is almost as much fun to shoot at rust and bricks, either way for me it is about the brick. The chapel is at Oakland Cemetery in St. Paul.
