The Saint Paul winter carnival starts this week. There is going to be a smallish ice castle in Rice Park. I watched them building it on Sunday. The weather has been downright balmy for January in Minnesota but it is cold enough to keep the ice blocks from melting.
Most years I go to the torchlight parade alone but this year my niece and daughter decided to join me. They both got cold but they had a good time anyway.
The torchlight parade is the finale for the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. The Vulcans take over from the winter royalty so that summer will come back. Live from the steps of the St. paul public library the epic battle between winter and summer.
The odds would never be in her favor if the hunger games had been held this past week in Minnesota.
I took this last January at our winter carnival. I took a lot of pictures with my phone that night too. Some people believe that the cameras in our phones have replaced cameras. I think for some they have replaced point and shoot cameras but not the DSLR or my 50mm prime lens. This photo was taken in low light conditions without a tripod or a flash.
From the space and rocket center. These kids can really play.
