I live near three major bridges and I often take pictures of them just like I take pictures of the river they span and the buildings along the shorelines. There are groups on Flickr for people who take photographs of bridges probably because they are fun to photograph. The photograph was taken from Lillydale park and is of the Smith Avenue HighBridge with downtown St. Paul in the background.

This shot was taken last week when the Mississippi river crested at about 19 feet which is higher than the great flood of 2010. The water has gone down since but there is a second crest headed our way. It is traveling down the Minnesota River which meets the Mississippi river a few miles West of out downtown. The next crest will be higher than the last. I took this shot from the Smith avenue high bridge. I guess a person would have to know the area to understand the picture. The water is high but the area that is flooded is all park land. Property damage is minimal.
