Eagle Street Grill

Another roof top shot. I admit I got carried away with this one.  it is made from three shots and well I went too far with it but I had fun and that is all that matters.  The Eagle Street Grill is across the street from the Xcel Center in St. Paul, MN and was really hoping the night of the Santana concert.

Golden Leaf Tobacco

Walking home one evening I had to stop and take some photos.  That might be why my ten minute walk took and hour but it was a nice night.  Golden Leaf Tobacco is located at 277 West Seventh street in St. Paul in the lovely historic Rochet building.  It was built in 1880 and I have to say they don’t build them like this any more.

E. 4th Street, St. Paul, MN

A couple of days ago someone asked me where the new light rail line will go. It is going down 4th street and wow I have to say downtown is a mess.  This is why I like to take my bike instead of the car. I can ride on the sidewalk, in the street or through the construction and park anywhere I can find something to lock my bike to.   There are other projects going on downtown that block the streets.

Does anyone know what time it is?

I will get back to the Minnesota photos, that is what this blog is for . . well mostly.  I guess it is really just a place to share photos and write a bit.  I love the Gothic style buildings in Chicago and they love to be photographed so it works nicely.  I have taken this picture a few times over the years.  I think it looks best when there are clouds in the sky.

Steeples and trees – there are plenty of both in St. Paul they look good together especially in the spring and fall.

Which Way?

I went to the St. Paul art crawl on Sunday. I didn’t get to stay long and I did not get any photos so on the way home I took this shot.  The building in the background is the Rossmor and that is one of the buildings that was part of the art crawl.  I saw a lot of fun stuff, photographs, paintings and sculptures.  The art crawl happens twice a year . . . go!

Spring on Selby Avenue

A couple of years ago I decided that I was going to photograph all of Selby Avenue from the Cathedral, which you can see in the background up to Dale Street.  I have not gotten many shots but one day I will have them all.  I love the architecture and the street lamps and the store fronts.

fleur de lis

Did you ever see a store front that was so beautiful you had to stop and take a picture?  This is the window of Fleur de Lis on Selby Avenue in St. Paul, MN.  They always have an amazing display of flowers in front of the store. It is pretty nice inside too.
