Every spring before the leaves on the trees open I go into the woods and photograph bloodroot. They are one of the first wild plants to bloom each year. They can be found in wooded areas and grow in clumps.
I found these blooming in the woods yesterday. They always seem like a miracle the way they bloom in little clumps before there are even leaves on the trees.
I found the bloodroot in full bloom in battle creek regional park in Ramsey county MN. They are almost a month ahead of last year. These are usually the first flowers I see blooming. They hang out in the woods in the near the trees. I found these growing in big clumps on the side of a hill.
