I always enjoy looking at the winter carnival ice sculptures. This year it has been cold enough and they did not melt right away. . . in fact when I took this picture on Sunday it was below zero not including windchill.
This picture was taken during warmer times. Have a great day, send roses to someone special.
This is just another view of the ice palace in Rice Park. it is likely gone by the tie this is posted. It is bitterly cold outside but the days are longer and the sun is warmer and is starting to eat away at those ice blocks.
The light pole cozies are part of an art project. I kind of liked this one because it was so colorful and all. They do give downtown a kind of festive air.
I more or less missed the Saint Paul Winter Carnival this year partly because of the weather. I got this shot after it was all over and as construction workers arrived to dismantle the ice castle. There is always next year.
In Northern Minnesota, there are fields of Lupine. Photographing them this year is on my “to-do” list.
