Panoramic

I don’t really get panoramics but thought I would try one.  This is actually made from six photos, but only two stitched together, the rest were because I bracketed the shots for HDR.  I didn’t use a tripod which is just wrong but I didn’t have one with me.  With the pano I end up with  long skinny picture.  On the one hand it is wider so it shows more on the other hand it isn’t as tall and it shows less.  Tomorrow I will post the two photos I used to make this.  The photo is of the Mississippi River valley near downtown St. Paul.  It was taken from the Science Museum of Minnesota.

How can this be?  I am running out of photos.  There are so many things to shoot this time of year. Just about everything looks better without snow and ice in it.

Duluth Harbor - Lake Superior

We usually go up to lake Superior in mid to late September.  it is still tourist season but there are fewer people and the days are shorter to it is easier to get those sunrise and sunset shots.  I ended up getting wet taking  this shot.  I had tried to get it from a couple of other places but every time I composed a shot a small child in brightly colored clothing would pop up and end up in the shot.  So I got close and I think the discoloration in the photo occurred when the spray hit the lens.

Two Harbors Light House

This light house has been shot so many times that I think it has faded.  I couldn’t resist taking a few shots but I decided to try a new angle.  It is a working light house by that I mean the light is lit.  It is now a B&B and I have stayed there.  I give it five stars.

6th street station

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I was up on a roof with a wide angle lens.  this isn’t what I was there to shoot but I liked the view.  Kellogg blvd. is to the left and I managed to get the history center and state capitol building in the background.  Too bad about the cathedral though but the sun was almost right behind it and the best I could have hoped for was a gray silhouette.

In the Fountain at River Park

What is it about kids and water?  It was warm that night and the park was full of people and the little girl kept riding through the water and giggling.

E. 4th Street, St. Paul, MN

A couple of days ago someone asked me where the new light rail line will go. It is going down 4th street and wow I have to say downtown is a mess.  This is why I like to take my bike instead of the car. I can ride on the sidewalk, in the street or through the construction and park anywhere I can find something to lock my bike to.   There are other projects going on downtown that block the streets.

Kellogg Park

No they don’t serve breakfast in the park but it was so amazingly beautiful yesterday that I grabbed some food and my camera and had a breakfast picnic in Kellogg park.  I love the view of the river from this park and the water features. There is plenty of grass, benches and flowers.  What more could I want on a beautiful morning in spring.

Shooting in the badlands

I love to take pictures of people taking pictures but I don’t get by with it very often.  The woman at the top of the hill, which is where she belongs is a friend Kristal Kraft of Denver Colorado.
