Vulcan Mobile

I took this as part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival but have been so busy I forgot to post it.   I had a lot of fun taking pictures in the park in the dark.  This is the official vehicle of the winter carnival Vulcans, parked along the winter carnival wall of ice in Rice Park, downtown St. Paul.   The carnival is billed as the coolest celebration on earth and often it gets so cold during the carnival that I just skip the whole thing.  There was this one year when I took pictures of ice sculptures in 0 degree temperatures with a -20 wind chill but the next year it was too cold so I didn’t bother.

Rice Park - Winter Carnival

The St. Paul Winter carnival provides a lot of photo opportunities.  I spent much of last weekend outside.  One of my favorite winter events is the ice carving contest.  The sculptures are amazing.

Park

Twin Cities Parks are rarely empty even in the winter.  I used an app called “snapseed” to process this shot which I took with my handy dandy panasonic point and shoot type camera.   I love the old oak trees in the parks and yes I know I have said that before.  This is the last day of January and we have not had much winter this year.  There are a few inches of snow on the ground.  I think this is mother natures way of apologizing for the abuse she heaped upon us last year.

Scotch Pine

In 2012 I am going to take more pictures of trees.  This ancient tree is on the shore of lake Como in St. Paul and it is one of the designated landmark trees.  I am not the only one who takes trees seriously.

Bird on the beach

One last photograph from Huntington Beach CA.  I hope I get to got back some day and see more.  I am so thankful for my friends at Zeek Interactive for having me at the company holiday party and for sending some work my way these these past few months.  They are an amazing and talented group of people.

Holiday Decorations

No this isn’t Minnesota.  The holiday decorations don’t look out of place here and we don’t have to make fake snow in our shopping Malls.

Beach

The beach is such a peaceful place early in the morning.  This picture is keeping me warm today.

Photography really is about light and portraits seem to work the best when the subjects are not posing.  I took several pictures of these two on the beach but this is my favorite and theirs too.  We had such a good time that morning.

Sunrise

Huntington Beach California.  It was a beautiful sunrise.

At the beach. I took these with my phone and processed them using iPad and IPhone apps. I had a great weekend seeing friends and enjoying California. I took a lot of photos.
