The lights look the best in the snow. I’ll likely go back when there is some snow on the ground and take some more pictures. Rice Park is in downtown St. Paul and is the center of several events including the Winter Carnival which is held in January.
It has been a tradition for me to photograph the holiday lights in Downtown St. Paul on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. At Sunrise I have the streets to myself.
This is downtown looking from North West to South East on a quiet Sunday morning.
I love going up to lake Superior in Northern Minnesota. I have taken this picture many times but each time it looks a little different. This time the birds decided to join the fun.
Not bad for a photo taken with a phone camera at night. it used to be all I could get was a blur, but with my newer phone I just need to hold the phone still and focus.
I had to work for pictures of last nights Crashed Ice down hill ice racing event. I was on the roof of a nearby parking ramp and security kept asking me to leave. Pictures are even more rewarding when I have to work for them. 🙂 As expected there were large crowds and many of the people I talked to had never been to crashed ice before.
crashed ice is fun to watch but if you miss it I can tell you this year will at least look kind of like last year. The event is free. Why not?
