The milkweed is starting to bloom. The plant attracts the Monarch butterfly. The caterpillars are easier to photograph because they move slower.
I can’t look at these without thinking of my mother. She gave me some and in my yard, they grow like weeds. She didn’t like it when I pulled them out of my hostas. I do let them grow but I try to keep them under control.
The leaves look like the leaves on a spider plant. The flowers are blue or purple. One of my favorite plants.
I grow these or maybe I should say they grow themselves in my Yard. I associate them with the start of Summer because they tend to start blooming around the middle of June. There are so many things blooming right now that you might start to notice a theme on my photo blog. 🙂
I spent many happy hours when I was a child walking along the dirt road by the cabin. I would pick the alfalfa that grew along the road and make bouquets out of it. I found this plant near pickerel lake.
This plant has a few names including indigo and false indigo. It is pollinator friendly and beuatiful.
