This is the patio at Burger Moe’s which according to Moe is going to open today. It is across the street from the Downtowner Wood Fire grill on West 7th. I plan on checking it out and I will report back. For those who don’t know Moe he also owns the Downtowner so I have high hopes for his new burger joint.

Best Patio in Saint Paul!
AWESOME FOOD, they grind the burger meat right there at the restaurant, dozens of Draft beers, Great patio, Great service. I love it there!!!
My friends and I enjoyed dinner Friday (7/2) night while sitting at the bar. The atmosphere was friendly and NOT “loud” like other bar/restaurants downtown. I walked around and found the outdoor patio packed with local folks and families. The burgers were aerved in a chrome rectangle basket, lined with “newspaper looking” (waxed)paper. Very appealing and clean looking. Our meals (Denny Burger, Bleu Burger and 2-Mini burgers)were huge with great flavors. Fries not over salted but crispy. P.J.Murphy’s Bakery (local St.Paul icon) bake all of Moe’s hamburger & hot dog buns daily – fresh… We’ll be back…Way to go Moe!!!
We loved the burgers too and I have a photo I really should post here of the basket with the burger.

We so wanted this place to be good, because the atmosphere is great and it is the most beautiful patio in town. Where do I start . . . even though there were only seven or eight diners on the patio, the server got both of our drink orders wrong, and the person seated at the table next to us was brought the wrong food order, and it took so long to get it right, that his wife and child had finished their meals when he was finally served. Our server was very nice though, and tried to make things okay. Also, a stray waitress came up to us with a plate of something and had to check each table to find out who ordered it. The service can be improved and I hope their signature dish can be too, because there is no other word for their burger, but “awful.” It was served very nicely in a basket and I was ready to dig in. But the meat mixture seemed to be held together with something akin to “crazy glue.” They have somehow managed to make a burger so tough that I could not cut through it with a knife and so I tried to pull it apart with my fingers. Couldn’t do it. How can you screw up a hamburger so badly? Moe, go to “The Nook,” “DeGidio’s” or out to the Lion’s Tap in Eden Prairie (the best hamburger in the Twin Cities), and find out how to do it. Wow.
My experiences there have been the opposite. I like the burgers at the nook but theses are as good or maybe better. I have also found the service to be excellent.
First of all, this is the prettiest patio in the Twin Cities! While any place just opening up has bugs to work out, we found the servers to be friendly and fun, which goes a long ways in, not only adding to the pleasant atmosphere outside, but also to patience while they get the rhythm of the place going. I’m meeting friends there on Thursday for Burgers and a beer – both excellent.
Obviously this Barb is an employee of The Nook. A burger so tough that it couldn’t be cut with a knife….Ya right. I live near the Nook and have been going there for years and I gotta say The Burgers are great but the service sucks and the fries are nothing to write home about. Burger Moe’s burgers are just as good if not better than The Nook and Moe’s service is light years ahead.
Ms Boardman’s photos are absolutely wonderful. I saved this site just so I can brighten my day, on occassion.
Thanks for the joy.
